**Proverbs 13:10 – “Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.”**

As a Christian minister, I am constantly reminded of the wisdom found in the book of Proverbs. This particular verse, Proverbs 13:10, speaks to the importance of humility and the dangers of pride. When we allow pride to take root in our hearts, it often leads to strife and discord in our relationships. However, when we humble ourselves and seek wise counsel, we can find true wisdom and harmony.

In today’s world, it is easy to get caught up in our own opinions and desires, often leading to conflicts with those around us. We see this played out in politics, social media, and even within our own families. But as followers of Christ, we are called to a higher standard. We are called to walk in humility and seek the wisdom that comes from God.

When we choose to humble ourselves and seek advice from others, we open ourselves up to growth and understanding. We acknowledge that we do not have all the answers, and that we can benefit from the perspectives and insights of those around us. This is a mark of true wisdom – the ability to listen, learn, and grow.

But pride can be a dangerous roadblock to wisdom. When we are too proud to admit when we are wrong or seek guidance from others, we limit our own growth and hinder our relationships. Pride blinds us to the truth and keeps us stuck in our own narrow perspective.

As a minister, I have seen the destructive power of pride in people’s lives. Marriages torn apart, friendships ruined, and communities divided – all because of pride. But I have also seen the transformative power of humility and wisdom. When we choose to set aside our pride and seek advice from others, we open ourselves up to healing and reconciliation.

So I encourage you, dear reader, to reflect on Proverbs 13:10. Are there areas of your life where pride has crept in and caused strife? Are there relationships that could benefit from your humility and willingness to seek advice? Take a moment to pray and ask God to reveal any areas where pride may be hindering your growth and relationships.

Let us strive to be like the wise men and women described in Proverbs 13:10 – those who seek wisdom through humility and taking advice. May we be willing to set aside our pride and open ourselves up to the wisdom that comes from God and from others. And may we experience the peace and harmony that comes from walking in humility and seeking wise counsel.

In closing, I leave you with the words of Proverbs 13:10 once again – “Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.” May these words be a reminder to us all of the importance of humility and the transformative power of seeking wisdom from others. Amen.
